 Daycare

How do you determine which dogs go in which group?
We match dogs based on size, temperament, age, and play style. We want all the dogs to enjoy their time at Camp while being safe. We work to match your dog with friends that are desirable, safe play mates. The groups are not static. As dogs tire at different rates and handle weather differently, we adjust accordingly.

Is there always a person with the group of dogs?
Yes. Playtime is never unattended.

Why does my dog need a quick-release collar?
We require quick-release collars for the safety of your dog and the other dogs. During play, a dog may get their jaw caught in their playmates collar, which can result in a broken jaw or neck of the caught dog, and strangulation of the other dog. To allow for quick release of the dog to prevent escalation of fear and aggression, we require all dogs have quick release collars.

For an example of the possible danger, please see this article: http://www.whole-dog-journal.com/issues/16_5/features/take-it-all-off_20740-1.html

Prong collars, even quick release ones, are not permitted. Prong collars were made to mimic the quick, reprimand bite of a mom dog. We do not want our dogs feeling like they are being reprimanded during normal play.

Choke chains are not permitted because we do not want to risk a dog being choked during play.

Do I need to bring food for my dog?
For daycare, if your dog requires mid-day meals, you will need to provide food.

Where do the dogs go to the bathroom?
The dogs are allowed to go to the bathroom where they want. We immediately clean up the soiling, and disinfect the area thoroughly. Fortunately, dogs are terrible at generalizing, and they won't go home thinking it is okay to potty in the house because they potty on the rubber flooring at Camp.

Dogs are never left unattended at Camp, so unfortunately, a dog door with open access is not something we can offer. The dogs that are in the inside group are taken on potty breaks to the grass yard throughout the day.

Why do you do half days in set time chunks?
The days are split in set time chunks so we can staff accordingly. We maintain certain ratios of dogs to humans. We need to know how many dogs we will have at any given time to maintain the appropriate staff size. This allows us to ensure the safest environment and a controlled group size.

Do you have a referral program?
For every referral you will receive one free day of daycare! Make sure to tell us if someone referred you!

Do you have multi-dog discounts?
We have a Double Dog Deal! The Double Dog Deal is aimed at our clients with multiple dogs that attend at least 3 times per week with 2 dogs as it expires after 1 month from the first day used. We also allow dogs of the same household to share packages allowing you to take advantage of our larger package discounts without being restricted by the expiration!

Do you have any breed restrictions?
No, we do not have breed restrictions. Regardless of their breed, every dog is required to pass a temperament evaluation to ensure daycare is the right environment for them. There are no exceptions.

Is daycare right for my dog?
Daycare is not always the right environment for every dog. We do a temperament evaluation for every dogs first visit to determine if daycare is the right environment for your dog. We believe in being very transparent with all owners and if we start noticing behavioral trends that suggest that your dog is not a fit for daycare we will let you know. We also firmly believe in trying our best to set your dog up for success here before deciding that daycare is not a fit, we may recommend schedule changes in terms of days or drop off hours if we feel that it would promote a more positive day for your dog!

What is a report card?
A report card is a brief description of your dogs activities for the day. It will include a variety of their activities, the dogs they played with and any abnormalities with their health.

Boarding

What does the boarding price include?
It depends on what option you choose! The single Boarding Night just is for staying the night in one of our kennels! We make sure to provide comfy blankets to make their stay cozy, give lots of extra love and attention and the administration of any medications your dog may need. In this option, daycare is charged separately. If you choose one of our boarding packages which include boarding nights and daycare days, then it will include both daycare and boarding. Depending on your length of stay or the hours you drop off, you may need to supplement your package with additional days of daycare or boarding nights.

Do I need to bring food for my dog?
For boarding, we recommend that you bring your own food. Dog's digestive systems can be prone to disruption from change in food, high energy expulsion, or a combination of the two. Maintaining some consistency in diet may be something your dog will appreciate... or at least their digestive system will.

We do have food available that is designed to be easy on your dog's gastrointestinal tract. We charge $1 per cup if you need to use our food.

What time should I drop my dog off for boarding?
We require that all dogs are dropped of by 3pm on the first night of their stay. This is to ensure that they have enough playtime before they are staying the night with us.
If you drop off after 12:30pm you will just be charged a half day of daycare
If you drop off between when we open (6am or 7am) and 12:30pm you will be charged a full day of daycare

What time should I pick up my dog when I return?
If you pick up your dog before 8am there is no charge for that day of daycare!
If you pick up your dog between 8am and 12:30pm you will be charged a half day of daycare!
If you pick up your dog after 12:30 but before 7pm you will be charged a full day of daycare!

Grooming

Why is grooming priced the way it is?
The luxury bath, clean and trim and luxury grooms are given price ranges because of the many variables that need to be taken into account when grooming. Bigger dogs take longer to bathe, and based on coat, the bath, drying or groom may take longer. Dogs with mats or complicated cuts take more time and therefore reflected in the price.

Health

My vet only requires bordetella once a year, why does my dog need it every six months to attend Camp?
The Bordetella vaccine begins to lose effectiveness after six months. Bordetella is a highly contagious bacteria that can be spread through direct contact, or even through the air; it can be likened to whooping cough, or the flu in humans. The bacteria itself is frequently evolving (not unlike the human flu) and new strains of the bordetella vaccination are released frequently. Taking all of these factors into account, we require an updated bordetella every six months to maintain full coverage for your dog.

My dog was vaccinated against bordetella, but they still contracted kennel cough. Does that mean the vaccination
doesn't work?
Not necessarily. Kennel cough is a broad term use to describe upper respiratory infections that result in cold like symptoms.
Also, the bordetella strain is constantly evolving (not unlike the human flu) and sometimes the strain is not covered by the vaccination. The best we can do is vaccinate against the strains that pose the largest threat, and work to keep our dogs healthy.

Does my dog really need all these vaccinations?
Yes. The required vaccinations are absolutely necessary for creating a safe, clean, environment for all Campers. The vaccines prevent illnesses that are contagious and possibly extremely harmful to dogs, and even humans.

Why does my dog need to be fixed?
Dogs begin sexually maturing around six months of age. During and after sexual development, dogs are able to breed, and produce pheromones that alert other dogs to their breeding status. These pheromones can create a less than desirable social interaction when dogs feel they must compete for a resource, in this case the resource is a potential mate. Resource competition leads to an unsafe environment for all dogs and people involved.

Does my dog need to be on a flea program?
Yes. Fleas can carry diseases like lyme disease. We do not want the spreading of fleas, or the diseases they carry.
